FUNDRAISING

Most of you will know that Ernst passed away on 7th April of Coronovirus. We held a small family ceremony on Zoom on 10th April to share our memories amongst close family, as we cannot hold a funeral in the current circumstances. We plan something more substantial and in person when conditions allow.

We would like you to help us remember him properly now though and so we have a request. Please could you send us any written memories and photographs that you would like to share. We will combine these in an online book or other form for all of you to access. If you can send things electronically that would be ideal, but our addresses and phone numbers are also below if this is easier.

When circumstances allow we plan to have a celebration of his life.

We also have some video footage done in the last 6 months when he recounted his own memories. We will make this available too, after we have added some more material.

If you would like to make a tangible difference to mark his life please consider contributing to our just giving page. We have decided to raise money for safe passage. We have matched the donations which have reached nearly £2500 so far. If you are able to share it with people that would be helpful.

We have chosen this refugee charity to help children in a similar predicament to Ernst and his friends more than 80 years ago. Lord Alf Dubs (who was also on the Kindertransport) set up Safe Passage which remains very active:

Thankyou for all your kind thoughts already.

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Ernst and I pass on our sincere condolences to you and all those close to him. Thank you for choosing to honour his memory by supporting our work that echoes the heroic kindertransport of 1939.

It’s a pleasure to read about his life in the article you shared. I hope that you and all your family are OK at this difficult time. Your support is very much appreciated, and it seems like a wonderfully fitting testament to a great man.

With kindest regards and warm gratitude.
